Note: I reached out to Picture Polish to ask about their ethical mica mining policy, but they didn’t have any information on their mica sourcing practices.

Cruelty-Free Gel Nail Polish Brands (Maybe Vegan?)

I have confirmed the following brands don’t test on animals but I was unable to confirm whether their gel nail polishes are vegan and don’t contain any animal-derived ingredients or by-products:

Butter London – cruelty-free but their PURECURE Peel-Off Lacquer is not listed under their list of vegan-friendly products

China Glaze – they’ve told me before that all of their lacquers are vegan but it turns out they use carmine in some of their red shades. So I’m hesitant to call any of their products vegan with certainty.

Gelish – a cruelty-free brand (doesn’t test on animals) but only claims some of its products are vegan, stating “PolyGEL is vegan.” I’ve tried asking them multiple times if they can confirm all shades and collections of their soak-off gel polish are vegan but they failed to respond.

Looking for a cruelty-free and vegan nail polish color for a professional-looking manicure or pedicure at home?

Here is an updated list of cruelty-free and vegan nail polish brands. Whether you prefer a nude, neon, glossy, shimmery, or matte finish, there’s something for you on this list!

Cruelty-Free & Vegan Nail Polish Brands

About This List: What started as only 40 vegan nail polish brands back in 2015 and then doubled to 80 brands by 2022, this list has seen many brands come and go. In its latest update, I’ve decided only to include brands that have been transparent about their ethical mica sourcing policy. As a result, I have removed over 20 brands due to their lack of response or clarification on where/how their mica is ethically sourced without child or forced labor.

All of the nail polish brands mentioned above are from brands that have been verified as being truly cruelty-free and don’t test on animals.

And all of these cruelty-free nail polish brands offer at least one or more vegan-friendly nail polish that doesn’t contain any animal-derived ingredients.

Most of these brands are entirely 100% vegan, and if not, then I made sure only to include brands that offer at least one or more vegan nail polish products. Brands not marked as “100% Vegan” may carry other nail care or cosmetic products (like cuticle oils, remover, lipsticks, eyeshadow palettes, and skincare) that may not be vegan.

Always check the manufacturer’s website for the most up-to-date information, as ingredients and formulations may change.

Now, you may be asking, what makes traditional nail polish not vegan.

Why is Nail Polish Not Vegan?

Some non-vegan and animal ingredients used in nail polish are guanine, which is derived from fish scales and used in shimmery nail polish colors; keratin and biotin used as a nail strengthener; and shellac, which is produced from the lac bug and commonly used as a high-shine hardener.

Vegan nail polish does not contain any animal-derived ingredients or by-products.

What is Cruelty-Free Nail Polish?

In addition to avoiding animal ingredients, we also want to ensure we’re not supporting or buying from any nail polish brands that allow their products or ingredients to be tested on animals. Unfortunately, most drugstore and high-end nail polishes are from brands that still test on animals.

For example, nail polish brands that are NOT cruelty-free include OPI, CND, Revlon, L’Oreal, Sinful Colors, Chanel, Gucci, Givenchy, Dior, Tom Ford, and Christian Louboutin.

A note on Sally Hansen and Essie, both these brands have started advertising some of their nail polish as ‘Vegan.’ However, I could not get a clear answer from Sally Hansen or Essie on whether they test on animals or not, which is why they’re on my Grey Area brands list.

In this post, I’m sharing 10+ eco-friendly nail polish brands offering cruelty-free, vegan, and sustainable nail lacquers that were consciously and ethically made while reducing their impact on the environment.

All the nail polish brands mentioned in this post are Cruelty-Free, Vegan, 5-Free, and Eco-Friendly in the sense that they were produced responsibly and ethically while respecting people, the planet, and animals.

Eco-Friendly Nail Polish Standards

Here’s how I chose brands to be included in this list of eco-friendly nail polish:

Cruelty-Free – the company must not conduct or commission any animal testing on its ingredients, formulations, or finished products, anywhere in the world. We verify a company’s animal testing policy against our Cruelty-Free Checklist.

Vegan – nail polish formulated without any animal-derived ingredients or by-products. Some common animal products that can be found in nail polish include guanine (fish scales), shellac, and animal-derived keratin.

5-Free – nail polish formulated without Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP), Toluene, Formaldehyde, Formaldehyde Resin, and Camphor.

Note: There are nail polish claims of ’10-Free’ and up to ’21-Free’ but upon my research, I found there are no regulations on these free-from claims. And to make it more confusing, brands don’t seem to have the same 10-free-from ingredient list. Also, it’s important to know that there is no such thing as ‘organic’ nail polish or ‘chemical-free’ nail polish.

Eco-Conscious Packaging or Materials – nail polish brands that use eco-friendly packing materials and/or sustainable materials for their nail polish bottles like recycled plastic and glass or compostable lids made with wood or bamboo. I would also recommend supporting nail polish brands that offer a recycling program where you can send in your bottles to be responsibly recycled.

Environmentally-Friendly Production – nail polish brands that are actively and continuously doing more to reduce their impact on the environment whether that’s offsetting their carbon footprint, keeping their production local, using renewable energy in their office or warehouses, or planting a tree for every polish purchased.

Ethically-Sourced Mica – Mica is a shimmery natural mineral commonly used in cosmetics and nail polish. But it’s been reported that mica is traditionally mined using child labor and exploitation. Therefore, I try asking brands whether their mica is ethically-sourced without the use of child labor and have included my findings, if available, in the descriptions.

Eco-Friendly Vegan Nail Polish Brands

Here are my personal recommendations for the best vegan and eco-friendly nail polish brands available on the market today!

Sienna - Vegan & Eco-Friendly Nail Polish

Sienna

Based in Australia, Sienna is a B Corp, 100% vegan and cruelty-free nail polish brand. The company has banned micro-plastics and glitter from their production and their head office and warehouse is powered by 100% renewable energy.

Sienna’s eco-friendly nail polish is produced locally in Australia to minimize the company’s carbon footprint. All of their packaging is 100% recyclable. And the sustainable nail polish brand also has an in-house recycling program where customers can return empty nail polish bottles to be recycled.

What I love most about Sienna is their use of local, non-native weed wood timber caps as opposed to conventional plastic caps for their nail polish bottles. And I also love that Sienna is an inclusive gender-neutral brand showcasing diversity in their product swatches, as well as, using male models.

Sienna has confirmed to me in an email response that their mica supplier has child-labor-free certifications and they perform regular audits to ensure compliance.

Price: $28

Kester Black - Vegan & Eco-Friendly Nail Polish

Kester Black

Another B Corp, Kester Black is based in Australia and their colorful line of cruelty-free, vegan, and carbon-neutral nail polish is a great sustainable and eco-friendly alternative for those who care about people, the planet, and animals.

Kester Black designs with the end-life of their products in mind, striving to be as sustainable as possible in the manufacturing of their products. They also use recyclable packing materials like their shipping boxes made from 100% uncoated recycled stock that’s printed using soy inks.

Kester Black manufactures their nail polish collection in France and confirmed their products are ethically-made without the use of child labor. In addition, Kester Black donates 2% of their revenue to social causes.

Habit - Vegan & Eco-Friendly Nail Polish

Habit

Habit is a black-owned and female-founded vegan cosmetics brand based in the US. All of their 10-free and vegan nail polish are sustainably made in the US. Habit also requires documents from their mica suppliers to ensure the natural mineral was ethically-sourced and without the use of child labor.

Price: $18

OZN - Vegan & Eco-Friendly Nail Polish

OZN

OZN’s eco-friendly nail polish formulas are plant-based and vegan. All of OZN nail care products and their ingredients are made in Germany where they claim 90% of the ingredients they use are derived from sustainably grown, plant-based raw materials such as wood, potato, beet, spelt, sugar cane, cassava or corn.

OZN nail polish bottles are made of 70% recycled glass and the lids are made with compostable material. In addition, OZN parcel shipments are climate-neutral and plastic-free and their office is run on 100% green electricity from renewable sources in Germany.

Price: 15,90 €

Nails.INC Plant Power - Vegan & Eco-Friendly Nail Polish

Nails.INC

I wouldn’t necessarily consider Nails.INC to be a sustainable cosmetics brand but they’re working on becoming a 100% vegan brand and recently produced a line of vegan and eco-friendly nail polishes. I wanted to include them on this list because their nail polishes are reasonably affordable at $10 each, so they’re a great sustainable alternative to other drugstore or affordable nail polish brands.

Nails.INC’s new nail polish collection called PLANT POWER is formulated with 75% bio-sourced ingredients and claims to be ’21-free’ but it’s not clear what those 21 ‘nasty ingredients’ are exactly. But Nails.INC has confirmed their mica is ethically-sourced without the use of child labor and they perform regular audits on their suppliers.

What makes Nails.INC worthy to be included on this list of vegan and eco-friendly nail polish is their choice to use recyclable and sustainable eco-friendly 100% FSC ash wooden cap for their bottles! I hope that by highlighting Nails.INC’s efforts in producing sustainable alternatives that they’ll release more in the future!

Price: $10

Zao Organic - Vegan & Eco-Friendly Nail Polish

Zao Organic

Zao Organic’s eco-friendly nail polishes are made in France and consciously manufactured with a low carbon footprint in mind. Their elegant nail polish caps are made from controlled harvested bamboo making them a sustainable option than plastic caps.

Zao Organic nail polishes are 10-free and formulated with vegan and bio-based ingredients and instead of petrochemical solvents, they use ‘agro-solvents’ derived from potatoes, manioc, corn, and wheat. In addition, Zao Organic has confirmed all of their ingredients are ethically-obtained without the use of child labor.

Dazzle Dry - Vegan & Eco-Friendly Nail Polish

Dazzle Dry

Dazzle Dry’s cruelty-free and vegan nail polish were developed by a bio-organic chemist. The nail care line with a conscious is based in the US and they continuously strive to adopt more sustainable and ethical practices. Dazzle Dry currently uses eco-conscious materials like biodegradable packing peanuts.

Also, for every Dazzle Dry purchase made, a tree is planted in partnership with WeForest. When I asked them if their mica is ethically-sourced, they responded stating all of their materials are sourced from the US with documentation.

Price: $18

Base Coat - Vegan & Eco-Friendly Nail Polish

Base Coat

Base Coat opened as the first non-toxic nail salon in Denver which eventually lead them to create their own line of 10-free, vegan, and eco-friendly nail polish collection with sustainability and ethics in mind.

All Base Coat products are formulated to be as clean as possible by cutting out toxins and using plant-based ingredients whenever they can. They also cut down on unnecessary packaging and use recycled, compostable materials to reduce their impact on the environment.

In addition, Base Coat offers a Polish Swap Program where for every old bottle you bring in to get responsibly disposed of, you’ll receive a discount on a Base Coat polish. Or bring in your Base Coat containers to their salon and receive a discount on a refill.

Price: $20

manucurist - - Vegan & Eco-Friendly Gel Polish

manucurist

I think it was important for me to include a vegan and eco-friendly gel polish on this list and I’m happy to have finally found a sustainable gel polish brand to recommend!

manucurist’s Green Flash is known as the first clean gel nail polish on the market formulated with no allergenic monomers, CMR or hydroquinone. They’re also cruelty-free, vegan, and 9-free. The green nail polish brand is based and manufactured in France.

If you’re not a fan of gel polish or using a lamp to cure your manicure, manucurist also offers regular nail polish that claims to contain up to 84% natural ingredients!

Price: $19 for gel polish and $14 for regular nail polish

Nail Polish Recycling Programs by Eco-Friendly Nail Polish Brands

Nail Polish Recycling Programs

In addition to supporting nail polish brands that use sustainable materials for their bottles or lids, I recommend buying from brands that offer a recycling program where you can send old bottles to be responsibly recycled. Here are some brands I suggest checking out:

Tenoverten have their own salon in New York, Austin, and LA. But Tenoverten also offers its own line of 8-free, cruelty-free, and vegan nail polish. What I love most about tenoverten is their recycling program where you can drop off any used bottles of nail polish at their store and they’ll responsibly recycle them for you! Note: I’ve reached out to tenoverten to ask about their ethical sourcing of mica but never heard back.

Elle Polish also offers a recycling program where you can send in 5 empty elle polish bottles to be recycled and in return, you’ll get a special edition polish. All of Elle Polish are Leaping Bunny certified cruelty-free, vegan, and 10-free. They have also confirmed that their mica is ethically-sourced without the use of child labor and the miners are paid fairly and treated well.

Côte is another vegan and eco-friendly nail polish brand offering a recycling program where for any used bottle of polish you bring into their LA shop, you’ll receive 10% off your next côte polish purchase. All of côte nail polishes are vegan, 10-free, and they have confirmed their mica suppliers are required to obtain a government-issued statement guaranteeing that no children were used in the production.

The post Zero Waste Manicure + Sustainable Nail Polish Options appeared first on ethical elephant.

]]>

It’s no secret that I love doing my nails with my weekly #VeganManiMonday posts but in an effort to go zero waste and live more sustainably, I’m trying to find ways on how I can reduce waste without giving up my nail polish addiction.

In this post, I’m sharing some zero waste and sustainable nail products that are better for the environment, including a list of non-toxic & vegan nail polishes I recommend, as well as, nail polish removers and reusable nail polish remover pads.

Zero Waste Manicure

The very first thing to going zero waste is to simply use up what you currently have! And when it’s time to dispose of used or old polish, we need to be mindful of what happens to them after their life cycle.

So before we get into the list of eco-friendly nail products, let’s first begin by answering.. is nail polish recyclable?

Are Nail Polish Bottles Recyclable?

Unfortunately, most curbside recycling programs don’t accept nail polish bottles because they’re considered hazardous waste and can’t be recycled.

For example, in Vancouver, Canada, my local curbside recycling does not accept nail polish bottles and instruct they belong in the trash bin.

(If you know of any creative ways to reuse or upcycle old nail polish or their bottles, please let me know!)

Although you may be able to find a recycling facility in your area that accepts empty glass nail polish bottles but note that most nail polish lids and brushes aren’t recyclable.

With that being said, it’s best to look for non-toxic and sustainable nail polish bottles made with recyclable lids, or purchase from brands that have a recycling program.

Eco-Friendly, Vegan Nail Polish

Unfortunately, there isn’t a zero-waste nail polish on the market as nail lacquer is essential a polymer aka plastic. So, if you want a truly zero-waste manicure, you may have to skip applying nail polish altogether.

I personally love doing my nails and it’s not something I’m willing to give up yet. And from my research, there are some ways we can shop more consciously to minimize our environmental impact.

Buying nail polish that is non-toxic, vegan, and 10-free is one of the best ways to protect the planet, animals, and our health.

10-free nail polish means they are free from 10 harmful ingredients including formaldehyde, toluene, DBP, camphor, formaldehyde resin, xylene, parabens, fragrances, phthalates, or ingredients derived from animals.

You’ll also want to avoid glitter nail polish, even if they claim to be 10-free and vegan. Glitter in nail polish are essentially micro-plastics that don’t break down and end up in our oceans.

So, ditch the chemical and glitter nail polish and choose these non-toxic, vegan, and sustainable nail polish brands instead:

Wooden Cap Vegan Nail Polish Bottles

As mentioned earlier, nail polish bottle caps are not recyclable. Some cruelty-free & vegan nail polish brands have swapped out non-recyclable plastic lids with wooden caps that can be taken off and recycled.

Habit Cosmetics, Zao Organics and Nails Inc. offer non-toxic and vegan nail polish with wooden, recyclable bottle caps.

But Sienna is my overall favourite vegan & sustainable nail polish brand, reason’s why I love Sienna:

Sienna - Vegan & Sustainable Nail Polish
Sienna – Vegan & Sustainable Nail Polish

Sienna is a Certified B Corporation making vegan & sustainable nail polish. Their nail polish caps are made from a local, non-native weed wood. Sienna nail polish formula are non-toxic, vegan, and cruelty-free and they refuse to use micro-plastic and glitter in their production.

Their head office and warehouse uses 100% renewable energy and everything they produce is within Australia to keep their carbon footprint low.

Sienna’s packaging is 100% recyclable, printed on 100% local recycled stock, and they also offer an in-house recycling program where customers can return their empty bottles.

Vegan Nail Polish Brands with Recycling Programs

In addition to Sienna offering a recycling program for their customers, I found some more cruelty-free & vegan nail polish brands that also offer their own recycling programs.

tenoverten

tenoverten is a female-owned, non-toxic nail salon with locations in New York, Los Angeles, and Austin. tenoverten also offers a range of 8-free, cruelty-free, and vegan nail polish.

In addition, tenoverten has partnered with Chemwise to recycle old nail polish bottles including plastic caps and brushes. Bring any old polish bottles from any brand to their salon and they’ll recycle them for you.

Based in LA, Côte also offers its customers 10% off their next purchase when they bring in their used and old polish to be recycled.

During Earth Month, Zoya lets customers ship any brand’s nail polish bottles to them and exchange it for a new Zoya nail polish with a $5 credit for every bottle exchanged.

Eco-Friendly Vegan Nail Polish Brands

If you’re unable to find vegan & non-toxic nail polish with wooden or recyclable bottle caps or ones that offer a recycling program, then look for brands that are consciously doing business sustainably. Read the About section of their website and buy from brands that have a social and environmental policy like Kester Black.

Kester Black Vegan & Sustainable Nail Polish
Kester Black

Kester Black is also a B Corp certified, sustainable, and vegan nail polish brand. The company and all of their products are 100% certified carbon neutral, cruelty-free, and vegan.

Their water-permeable and breathable nail polish are 10-free and do not contain formaldehyde, toluene, DBP, camphor, formaldehyde resin, xylene, parabens, fragrances, phthalates and animal derived or tested ingredients.

Kester Black designs with the end-life of their products in mind and uses as much recyclable packaging as possible, all of their shipping boxes are made of 100% uncoated recycled stock and printed with soy inks, and their shipping bags are made from recycled limestone.

In addition, Kester Black also donates 2% of all revenue to social causes.

Dazzle Dry

Dazzle Dry is also another brand I recommend, developed by a bio-organic chemist, their non-toxic and vegan nail care system is formulated without nitrocellulose meaning they will never expire so that you can use up the bottle till the very end thereby reducing unnecessary waste.

In addition, Dazzle Dry uses eco-conscious packing materials like biodegradable packing peanuts and their manufacturing facilities have rigorous recycling methods in place to reduce landfill trash. They’re also phasing out single-use plastics and have partnered with WeForest Project where they plant a tree for every purchase made.

Mineral Fusion’s CarbonFree™ nail polish is another great eco-friendly option that I would recommend, especially because they’re affordable and accessible where you can find their products at the drugstore. Mineral Fusion has partnered with CarbonFund.org to neutralize their impact on the planet.

By calculating the carbon emissions created when producing their nail polish, Mineral Fusion then contributes funding to energy efficiency, forestry, and renewable energy projects to offset their emissions.

Zero Waste Nail File – Glass File

My mom gifted me a glass nail file 8 years ago and I’ve been using it ever since. It’s still holding up wonderfully and I haven’t had to use or repurchase anymore nail filers since.

Zero Waste Nail File
Zero Waste Nail File

Glass files, also known as crystal files, are chemically-treated, tempered pieces of glass that gently buffs your nails down and seals the keratin layers at the edge of the nail, preventing breakage and chipping.

And unlike super-gritty nail files that can be too rough and end up tearing the edge of your nails, glass files are more gentle with its smooth but sturdy surface.

They’re also super easy to clean with just soap and water so you can easily reuse your glass file over and over again.

Where to buy a crystal file? Amazon sells a bunch of glass files but note some come in excessive and/or plastic packaging.

If you’re shopping on Amazon, try and find one with minimal packaging. Although it is glass, it’s very sturdy and won’t break so you don’t need a plastic case.

I keep my glass file in a velvet-like pouch that it came with, similar to this one on Amazon.

Sienna Byron Bay also offers a zero-waste glass nail file.

Zero Waste Nail Polish Remover
786 Cosmetics – Zero Waste Nail Polish Remover

Zero Waste Nail Polish Remover

I’ve switched over from acetone nail polish remover to soy and water-based nail polish remover and my nails are much happier for it.

Although water-based, natural nail polish remover does take more time and patience compared to chemical and acetone nail polish removers, but they’re way more gentle on my nails, doesn’t dry them out, and they don’t have that strong chemical smell too.

Look for soy and zero-waste nail polish removers packaged in glass bottles that can be reused or recycled, I recommend 786 Cosmetics, Karma Naturals, Sienna, and Priti NYC.

Zero Waste Nail Polish Remover Pads

Swap cotton pads and balls with reusable nail polish remover pads like the Bamboo Rayon Felt ones I recently got from Etsy.

Zero Waste Nail Polish Remover Pads

I’ve reused these zero-waste nail polish remover pads countless times and they’re well worth it in my opinion as they’ve saved many single-use cotton pads from sitting in the landfill.

Use the reusable nail polish remover pads the same way as you would with regular cotton pads and then once you’re done, rinse them under water without soap and let them air dry.

I’ve reused mine for well over a month now and although they may not look the nicest after several uses, they’re still holding up perfectly fine and no one is going to see them but me.

Vegan Tip: Some reusable nail polish remover pads are made with wool felt, so be sure to look for ones made with other materials like bamboo rayon for an animal-free alternative.

So there you have it! Some of my zero waste tips and sustainable nail products that I would recommend to living your BEST ethical life!

Here are ethical elephant's top 5 picks for nail polish brands

The post 5 Best Cruelty-Free & Vegan Nail Polish Brands appeared first on ethical elephant.

]]>

I remember when I first created ethical elephant’s List of Cruelty-Free and Vegan Nail Polish Brands three years ago, it was sort of easy to find 40+ nail polish brands that weren’t tested on animals and had plenty of vegan nail polish options.

It’s so great to see so many fab options but let’s be real, it’s a little overwhelming to see 50+ options. So I thought I would list out my top 5 favorite cruelty-free and vegan nail polish brands.

Best Vegan Nail Polish Brands

These brands don’t test on animals and none of their nail polishes contain any animal ingredients like fish scales (for shimmer) or shellac (obtained from lac bugs).

I’ve personally tried and tested each of these brands, some were gifted in PR for me to try and some I have purchased myself. Even if it was gifted to me, I have used them over and over again and personally recommend them to my close families and friends, including you!

ZOYA Vegan Nail Polish

You’ve probably heard of ZOYA nail polish before, they’re one of the most popular cruelty-free and vegan nail polish brands and for good reasons, because ZOYA polishes are high-quality and they’re available where most nail polish are sold. The color in the photo is called Blu and is hands down one of my favorites!

All of ZOYA nail polish are vegan and 10-free.

NCLA Vegan Nail Polish

If you’ve been following me for awhile then it’s no surprise that NCLA is in my top 5. I purchased my first nail polish by NCLA on NailPolishCanada.com and was instantly hooked. Beautiful color pay-off, stunning color range, and I can’t go without their Gelous? Top Coat!! They also have some nail wraps which are super fun to apply!

All of NCLA nail polish are vegan and 7-free.

VEQUE Vegan Nail Polish

I recently got to try VEQUE nail polish and with one brush stroke, I knew I found a favorite!

VEQUE nail polish are full-coverage and very opaque, they’re applicator brush is also bigger so you literally can get away with just one easy coat. I especially love applying VEQUE when I’m in a rush, I can finish my manicure in minutes while achieving a high-shine finish and professional-looking nails!

All VEQUE nail polish are vegan and 9-free.

Color Club Vegan Nail Polish

Color Club seems to be popping out a new color everyday! They have an endless selection of nail polishes and they’re all super affordable, which is why they made my top 5 list! I’ve tried a handful of Color Club’s nail polish and they’re a hit or miss.. some are opaque and others are streaky but for the price and color range, I definitely think they’re worth it!

All Color Club nail polish are vegan.

Live Love Polish Nail Polish

This is the newest nail polish brand I’ve tried and Live Love Polish has the BEST selection for shimmer, glitter, and holographic nail polish! I’ve tried a bunch of their glitter and holographic nail polish and the color pay-off is unlike anything I’ve ever tried before. I have not been disappointed with any of their polishes so far!

All of Live Love Polish nail polish are vegan.

List of cruelty-free and vegan nail polish removers

After I created my list of over 40+ cruelty-free and vegan nail polish brands, many of you have been asking about nail polish remover.

When it comes to nail polish remover, you’ll want to look out for added moisturizing ingredients like animal-based glycerin or Vitamin E from animal sources. These ingredients are usually not labeled whether they are plant or animal-derived so it’s best to ask the company to be sure. Also, a heads up that some nail polish remover may also contain gelatin.

Related: What’s the difference between cruelty-free vs. vegan cosmetics?

Thankfully there are plenty of cruelty-free nail polish brands that offer vegan nail polish remover solutions, including acetone-free options and remover pads!

Vegan Nail Polish Remover

Zoya Remove Plus Nail Polish

This is my all-time favorite vegan nail polish remover. I especially love the spill-proof pump, Zoya’s nail polish remover has always been able to do the job of painlessly removing all my polish without leaving any residue behind. Unlike other removers, this one doesn’t have a strong chemical smell to it.

Ella + Mila Soy Nail Polish Remover

Ella + Mila’s soy-based nail polish remover is “designed to effectively remove all natural nail polishes. Ingredients include Vitamins A, C & E, as well as Lavender Essential Oil, all of which promote healthy and moisturized nails. Mineral Fusion’s acetone-free nail polish remover is a brand you can find at Whole Foods and even at some drugstores (If you’re in Canada, London Drugs has them!). This is a great vegan nail polish remover you can pick up at the store and their acetone-free formula is gentle yet effective at removing even the most stubborn colors.

Gabriel Liquid Nail Polish Remover

I’m back for my second Holiday nail collection consisting of only 100% cruelty-free and vegan nail polish! If you haven’t seen my first post, it was a ‘Tis the Season to be Cruelty-Free! theme.

It’s not even December yet and some of us have already been hit with a snow storm! Inspired by the dream of waking up to a White Christmas, I’ve scoured the web to find some of the most beautiful snowflake inspired looks!

I also want to mention that although some of us dream and wish for a White Christmas, polar bears, and among other animals and sea creatures that depend on the ice habitat, are in danger due to warmer climates and shrinking ice levels. Please take the time to learn more from WWF.

Let It Snow - Cruelty-Free & Vegan Holiday Nail Inspiration

Let It Snow!

Purity by Zoya – according to Zoya’s website, this color can be best described as a bright, stark, perfectly clean pure white with a glossy creme finish.

Superstar by Furless – this icy cool color is such an elegant shade and adds a little touch of holiday sparkle to a traditional white creme nail polish

Chillin’ With My Snow-Mies by China Glaze – if you’re looking for a snowflake pattern, this combo from China Glaze of white hex glitters + clear base is your solution. I love how there’s a mixture of different glitter sizes!

Snow Globe by Ciaté – holographic or a ‘shattered glass’ effect is the hottest nail trend right now and I love this mix of beautifully delicate sprinkles of holographic flakes from Ciatè! Wear ontop of a lighter color for that winter white look or contrast with something darker and it’ll also create a stunning effect!

Something New by Color Club – I was looking for a color that reminded me of Frosty the Snowman and this unique blend of white and blue glitter from Color Club perfectly fits the bill!

Which of these colors or effects would you rock for a Let It Snow theme?

Kickin off the holiday seasons with my first Holiday inspired cruelty-free & vegan nail polish post! Each week I’ll create a custom Holiday nail collection from various vegan nail polish brands.

Since it’s only the middle of November.. I wanted to create a collection that would get us all in the Holiday spirit. I call this collection, ‘Tis the Season to be Cruelty-Free! and reminding you all that we can inspire others to go cruelty-free just by leading by example or gifting some awesome cruelty-free products that I’m sure they’ll love and appreciate over their non-cruelty-free brands!

tis the season to be cruelty-free!

’tis the season to be cruelty-free!

nori by Zoya – this sapphire blue PixieDust is the perfect holiday show stopper color.

peppermint to be by China Glaze – spicing up the traditional deep red nail color, I wanted something with more pizzazz and the shimmer in this color is guaranteed to make any holiday sparkle!

lait by LVX – choosing a pure white was too easy for a Winter White color so to keep things interesting, I went with an off-white, cream nail color! This is a beautiful shade for a neutral look and you know I’m all about the neutrals all year around.

man by man by Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics – I never realized how difficult it was to find a sparkly green nail polish color until now. But the moment I laid eyes on this one from OCC, I knew it was the one. It is the perfect balance of that deep green Christmas tree hue decorated with a sprinkle of shimmer.

gilded by ella + mila – not one to really like metallic nail polish but this gold metallic color by ella + mila is undeniably perfect to set the mood for the holidays!

Let me know in the comments below what color (or cruelty-free nail polish brand!) you’re wearing to kickoff the holiday season cause ’tis the season to be cruelty-free!
